PURPOSE: Provided is a phosphorylated poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene)-based chelate resin which is excellent in chelate adsorption power to a certain heavy metal ion, and a preparing method thereof. CONSTITUTION: The phosphorylated poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene)-based chelate resin is represented by the formula 1, wherein a spacer of an ethylene benzyl sulfone linkage structure is introduced onto a phenyl ring, and successively, a phosphono functional group is introduced thereonto, and is prepared by the method comprising the steps of: reacting a phenyl ring in a spherical copolymer resin of styrene and divinylbenzene, with chloromethyl, followed by thiolating with thiourea/aqueous alkali solution to prepare a thiol group-containing copolymer resin of the formula 2; reacting the obtained copolymer resin with chloroethanol to convert into a hydroxyethyl benzyl thioether group, followed by chlorination to prepare a chloroethyl benzyl thioether linkage structure-containing copolymer resin of the formula 3; and reacting the obtained copolymer resin with triethylphosphite/aqueous alkali solution. In the formula 1-3, A represents a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom.
