METHOD AND AN APPARATUS FOR REDUCING POWER OF A WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM, PARTICULARLY FOR ENHANCING A CALL TIME OF A TERMINAL BY EFFECTIVELY OPERATING A DOZE/ACTIVE MODE RATIO OF THE TERMINAL WHICH PERFORMS VOICE COMMUNICATION
PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for reducing power of a WLAN(Wireless LAN) system are provided to reduce power consumption of a station and thus improve a voice call communication time by effectively setting a doze/active mode of a station in call communication. CONSTITUTION: A storing unit(14) stores a PS-polling list table(14a). A wireless Interface unit(11) interfaces to allow a WLAN AP(Access Point)(10) to wirelessly communicate with each station through a wireless LAN. A wired interface unit(12) interfaces to allow the AP(10) to transmit/receive a frame through a wired network. A buffer(15) temporarily stores the frame that the WLAN AP(10) has received. The storing unit(14) stores operation information of the WLAN AP and IP address information assigned to perform wired/wireless communication. The PS-polling list table(14a) of the storing unit(14) has number information, address information and time slot time information of each station currently managed by the WLAN AP(10). A controller(13) generates a beacon message and transmits to each station, allocates a time slot to a station which receives a frame and exchanges the frame with the station during the time slot. A time slot processor(13a) of the controller(13) allocates a time slot to each station currently managed by the WLAN AP(10).
