METHOD FOR SETTING AN OPTIMUM RECORDING POWER IN AN OPTICAL RECORDING APPARATUS, ESPECIALLY IN REFERENCE TO REVERSELY CALCULATING A FEATURE VALUE FROM A RECORDING POWER THAT A JITTER VALUE BECOMES MINIMUM
PURPOSE: A method for setting an optimum recording power in an optical recording apparatus is provided to set an optimum recording power by reversely calculating a feature value from a recording power that a jitter value becomes minimum, thereby improving recording/reproducing qualities of different disks. CONSTITUTION: A controller determines the first optimum recording power(200), and records defined patterns in a PCA(Power Calibration Area) while varying the first power(201). The controller measures jitters in the reproduced patterns(202), and determines a recording power that the measured jitters become minimum as the second optimum recording power(203). The controller reversely calculates feature values from the second power(204), and applies the reversely calculated feature values to an OPC(Optimum Power Control) to determine the third optimum recording power(205). The controller stores the reversely calculated feature values in the PCA or an RMA(Record Management Area)(206).
