A power-saving apparatus and a method of a mobile communication terminal are provided to designate a kind of power-saving mode through an interface with a user, and to set power-saving mode entering conditions and power-saving mode items of the designated kind of the power-saving mode, thereby performing a power-saving control function corresponding to the preset power-saving mode items according to the preset conditions. A battery capacity measurer(24) measures a battery capacity of a mobile communication terminal. A user input unit(14) designates a kind of power-saving mode, and sets a power-saving mode battery entering capacity and power-saving mode items corresponding to the designated kind of the power-saving mode. A memory(20) stores the set power-saving mode entering battery capacity and the power-saving mode items. A controller(10) performs a power-saving control function corresponding to the set items if the measured battery capacity reaches the set power-saving mode battery capacity.
