BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to the synthesis of waste aluminum dross (WAD) into a nitride-based mixture using Self propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS). By converting aluminum and alumina into nitrides such as AlN and AlON, a technology to be utilized for high functional refractory materials is provided.;The configuration of the present invention is a method of manufacturing a high functional refractory material using WAD as an SHS reaction raw material, a pretreatment step of mixing WAD with aluminum powder, and mounting the mixed powder in an SHS reaction chamber filled with nitrogen gas and generating a heating element. It consists of an initial reaction step of igniting through and an SHS reaction step of advancing the reaction using a mixture powder (WAD + Al powder) and exothermic heat of nitrogen gas. This method is characterized by converting not only the aluminum component inside the WAD but also the alumina component into a nitride compound.
