PURPOSE: A method for suppressing a fault message in an exchange is provided to directly output a fault message from a failed part, and to transmit generation counts only for an output suppression or an automatic suppression function to an FLM block, thereby simply adding or changing a new fault message while separately managing a fault only of a specific processor. CONSTITUTION: A system initializes a fault count value in accordance with each fault code(2a), and receives a fault report signal(2b), then updates a fault code count of a DB(2c). The system obtains a selection or prohibition limit value(2d). If the obtained value is for the limit value(2e), the system increases the count to check whether the limit value is bigger or smaller than the fault count value(2f). If the fault count value is bigger(2g), the system reads suppression state data of a corresponding code(2h), and checks whether a suppression function is on(2i). If so, the system updates the DB to suppress(2j), and outputs changed contents on a suppressed state(2k).
