A COMPOSITION FOR DENTURE BASE RESIN WITH PMMA-POSS HYBRIDE SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A resin composition having a structure in which POSS and PMMA are dispersed within monomers selected from MMA, styrene and a mixture thereof is provided. Therefore, the composition is excellent in mechanical properties such as bending strength, tensile strength, impact strength or the like as well as external appearance and color development. CONSTITUTION: The resin composition comprises: (a) a polymer solution in which POSS is dispersed within monomers selected from MMA, styrene and a mixture thereof; and (b) a hybrid material of PMMA power. The polymer solution additionally contains a platinum catalyst. A denture base is obtained by the following process consisting of: polymerization of the polymer solution at 80 to 110deg.C and at a pressure of 700 to 1,200psi; and then heat-treating the obtained hybrid material of the POSS and PMMA at 80 to 100deg.C.
