DEVICE FOR MUSIC REPRODUCTION BASED ON MELODY

PURPOSE: A music player capable of searching music based on melody is provided to automatically search and play a music according to humming of a certain part of the music input via a microphone without any complicated manipulation of any additional input units. CONSTITUTION: A music player with search function based on melody includes an audio input part(11) such as a microphone, a melody character extracting/searching unit(12), a music selecting unit(13), a music data storing medium(14), and an audio output part(15). As humming signals are input via the audio input part, the melody character extracting/searching unit extracts the characteristics such as the tone and length of sound from the input humming melody to search music data. The selecting part selects a music on the basis of search result output from the melody character extracting/searching unit. The selected music data is stored to the music data storing medium and played via the audio output part. The melody character extracting/searching unit has a similarity calculation part(122) for comparing the character information of the humming data melody with melody characters of music data, wherein the similarity calculated on the basis of the comparison is inputed to the selecting part.
