PURPOSE: An extract of Sedum kamtschaticum and fractions thereof are provided to make an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the generation of prostaglandin (PG) due to the enzyme of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). CONSTITUTION: An extract is obtained from Sedum kamtschaticum by using an organic solvent. The organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of low grade alcohol of C1-C4, glycerol, propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, ethyl acetate, benzene, hexane, diethyl ether, or dichloromethane. A fraction of ethyl acetate or butanol is prepared by suspending the Sedum extract in distilled water, and adding ethyl acetate or butanol thereto.
