PURPOSE: An image former having an automatic jam removing function and an automatic jam removing method are provided to detect whether a paper is jammed, and to automatically eliminate the jammed paper if the paper is jammed, thereby normally transferring the paper. CONSTITUTION: A feeding unit(10) stores papers, and feeds the stored papers one by one. An image forming unit forms an image to be printed. A transfer unit(20) transfers the formed image on the papers fed from the feeding unit(10). A fixing unit(30) fixes the transferred image to the papers. A delivery unit(40) discharges the papers where the image is fixed. Paper transfer guides(50,53,55,57) are installed between each unit(10,20,30,40), and guide the transferring of the papers. Feeding sensors(72) are installed on left/right sides of the paper transfer guides(50,53,55,57) between the feeding unit(10) and the transfer unit(20), and sense width of the papers. The feeding sensors(72) confirm whether the papers are skewed, repeatedly drive the feeding unit(10) in reverse and forward directions if the papers are skewed, and enable the papers to be normally fed.
