When using a common glass frit for the production of black glass coating compositions a significant amount of black pigment should be used. The black glass frit according to the invention can be used to reduce the amount of pigment used, with a thin layer of black glass frit having low permeability.;The glass frit according to the invention is black and the glass composition contains the following components: 10 to 17 mol% K 2 O, 10 to 25 mol% B 2 O 3 , 15 to 30 mol% TiO 2 , 30 to SiO 2 55 water%, 0 to 5 mol% Al 2 O 3, 0 to 5 mol% Bi 2 O 3 , 0.05 to 3 mol% Fe 2 O 3 (total iron) and sulfur, 0.1 to 3 mol% (total sulfur).
