PURPOSE: A recording medium having the recording capacity information, a method for marking recording capacity, the method for recording the recording capacity information, and the method for recording/playing data using the same are provided to record the recording capacity of the recording medium to a lead-in area. CONSTITUTION: If the recording capacity is changed, a new recording capacity and recording capacity change particulars are respectively recorded to a recording capacity mark area and a recording capacity change recording area allotted to an unused area of a rewritable data zone in the lead-in area(502). An optical disc recording/playing device checks that a user selects recording or playback(503). If the recording or the playback is selected, it is checked that the recording capacity mark area marks the recording capacity change(504). If the recording capacity is not changed, the data is read or written by reading the recording capacity recorded in an embossed data zone in the lead-in area(505). If the recording capacity is changed, the data is read or written by reading the recording capacity recorded in the rewritable data zone in the lead-in area(506).
