PURPOSE: A system and method for setting the origin coordinates of a machine tool is provided to minimize the flow line of a worker and improve working efficiency by collectively setting the origin coordinates of the machine tool with only one system. CONSTITUTION: A system for setting the origin coordinates of a machine tool is composed of a CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) operation module for controlling information for setting the origin coordinates of the machine tool and outputting a signal into a PMC(Programmable Machine Controller); a CNC memory unit storing a program for setting the origin coordinates of the machine tool and information controlled by the CNC operation module; a display unit(132) implementing the program and displaying working states progressed by the CNC operation module; a program menu and command input unit(134), and a program setting unit(133). The program setting unit selects the menu of the program and a coordinate system, and sets the origin coordinates of the machine tool finally.
