Method for producing Calcium Carbonate fine powder by wet grinding and classification

PURPOSE: A method for making calcium carbonate by a simple wet process is provided to reduce the energy consumption, and to obtain calcium carbonate having a sharp particle size distribution and excellent whiteness. CONSTITUTION: The method for making calcium carbonate comprises the steps of: washing a natural ore of calcium carbonate; pre-crushing the ore to the average particle diameter of 10-20 micrometers by repeated crushing treatments; adding water to the crushed powders to form a calcium carbonate slurry; crushing the slurry through a wet grinding beads mill; further crushing the slurry through a wet grinding beads mill; separating the wet calcium carbonate having the average particle diameter less than 0.5 micrometers by a wet classifier; and concentrating the wet calcium carbonate through a vacuum pump.
