Multiple IP address processing apparatus and method using one physical LAN port in M-DSLAM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing multiple IP addresses by using a single LAN interface in a multi-DSLAM(Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) are provided to operate a system only with one external LAN interface mounted in a BIU(Broadband Interface Unit) while maintaining an original function without changing an MCU(Main Control Unit). CONSTITUTION: An LIU(LAN Interface Unit) receives IP packets through a LAN(S110). The LIU determines whether a destination IP address of the received IP packet is an IP address of an MCU(S112). If the destination IP address is an IP address of the MCU, the LIU routes the IP packet to a logical LAN interface of a BIU having a private IP address, the next home address, with reference to an internal routing table(S114,S116). The logical LAN interface of the BIU transmits an IP packet to an ATM cell converting/inversely converting unit(S118). The ATM cell converting/inversely converting unit converts the IP packet into an ATM cell and transmits it to an ATM cell converting/inversely converting unit of the MCU(S120). The ATM cell converting/inversely converting unit of the MCU converts the received ATM cell into an IP packet and transmits it to a logical LAN interface of the MCU(S122). The logical LAN interface of the MCU transmits the received IP packet to an MCU processing module to allow the MCU processing module to process the IP packet(S124).
