PURPOSE: An application program format conversion method in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to download MHP(Multimedia Home Platform) application programs, convert the MHP application programs into Normal Java application programs, thereby transmitting the format-converted programs to an outside connection device and recording to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: An application program received from digital broadcasting is downloaded within a device(S10). A downloaded application program is converted into a previously set other format application program(S12). When completing a format conversion(S13), a CPU stores the format converted Normal Java application program files to a storage(S14). The converted application program is transmitted to the outside transmission device(S17) or recorded to a detachable recording medium(S18) according to user's request.
