PURPOSE: A method for isolation of oligotrophic bacteria in potable ground water is provided, thereby easily and effectively isolating oligotrophic bacteria from potable ground water, so that the water quality of subterranean water can be easily controlled. CONSTITUTION: The method for isolation of oligotrophic bacteria in potable ground water comprises culturing the sample of potable ground water in a dilution nutrient broth(DNB) medium which is diluted in a dilution rate of 10-1 to 10-4, wherein the bacteria being cultured in the 10-1 to 10-3 times diluted DNB medium and 10-1 to 10-4 times diluted DNB medium are classified as "Type III" and "Type IV", respectively, which are referred to as oligotrophic bacteria; and the oligotrophic bacteria are Afipia, Blastobacter, Bradyrhizobium, Caulobacter, Phenylobacterium, Rhizobium, Sphingomonas, Acidovorax, Azonexus, Variovorax and Rhodanobacter.
