PURPOSE: A catalyst for oxidation reaction capable of decomposing chlorine based organic compounds and minimizing production of secondary toxic substance, a method for preparing the catalyst, and a method for removing chlorine based organic compounds contained in exhaust gas using the catalyst are provided. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst for oxidation reaction of chlorine based organic compounds comprises (a) 100 weight parts of titanium dioxide support; and (b) a supported catalyst onto which catalyst constituents comprising (i) 0.001 to 0.01 weight part of platinum oxide or palladium oxide, (ii) 3 to 13 weight parts of vanadium oxide, and (iii) 3 to 13 weight parts of tungsten oxide are supported. The method for preparing the catalyst for oxidation decomposition reaction of chlorine based organic compounds comprises a step (a) of preparing a supported catalyst on which vanadium oxide and tungsten oxide are supported by drying and calcining the impregnated titanium dioxide powder after impregnating titanium dioxide powder with a mixed aqueous solution of vanadium oxide precursor aqueous solution and tungsten oxide precursor aqueous solution; and a step (b) of preparing a supported catalyst onto which vanadium oxide, tungsten oxide and platinum or palladium oxide are supported by drying and calcining the impregnated supported catalyst after impregnating the supported catalyst of the step (a) with an aqueous solution of hexachloroplatinate (IV) (H2Cl66H2O) or palladium (II) nitrate hydrate (Pd(NO3)2H2O).
