PURPOSE: An alternating current electric railroad power system and an analysis method thereof are provided to analyze harmonics, voltage drop, voltage unbalance, and faults by using a user defined model of an EMTDC program. CONSTITUTION: An alternating current electric railroad power system analysis method comprises an automatic transformer simulation process of obtaining a primary voltage between a catenary and a feeder, a secondary voltage between a catenary and a rail, and a loop current of an automatic transformer. The automatic transformer simulation process includes a first step of defining a primitive impedance matrix and a loop incidence matrix; a second step of obtaining a loop voltage vector and a loop impedance matrix from the first step; a third step of obtaining a loop voltage equation from the second step; a fourth step of obtaining a loop current equation by using a condition where currents flowing along two windings of the automatic transformer have the same size and different directions; a fifth step of obtaining a simultaneous equation by combining the loop voltage equation obtained in the third step and the loop current equation obtained in the fourth step; and a sixth step of solving the simultaneous equation obtained in the fifth step.
