PURPOSE: A specific character appearance interval search system and method is provided to enable a user to search for a specific scene in video contents of a drama genre. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a scene interval search module(10), a video analyzer(20), a search module(30), a candidate interval display(40), a user interface(50), and a video contents regenerator(60). The scene interval search module(10) gets motion data, a colour histogram, and a grouped interval frequency within video contents, and searches for the desired scene interval in the video contents. The video analyzer analyzes the searched scene interval. The search module(30) searches for an index corresponding to an interval having a frame number selected by a user, searches for feature data of the intervals relevant to the searched index, and offers the index of the highest similarity after a comparison process on searched feature data. The candidate interval display(40) displays the first scene corresponding to the index of the highest similarity offered by the search module(30). The video contents regenerator(60) offers a specific scene, to be searched for, to the search module(30) via the user interface(50).
