PURPOSE: A recombinant human G-CSF/GM-CSF fusion protein and a gene encoding the same are provided. The fusion protein can be useful in case that two functions of G-CSF(granulocyte-colony stimulating factor) and GM-CSF(granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor) proteins are required including in vivo or in vitro expansion of bone marrow stem cell. CONSTITUTION: A recombinant human G-CSF/GM-CSF fusion protein has the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 2. A gene encoding the recombinant human G-CSF/GM-CSF fusion protein has the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1. A method for producing the recombinant human G-CSF/GM-CSF fusion protein comprises the steps of: amplifying G-CSF using primers having the nucleotide sequences set forth in SEQ ID NO:31 and SEQ ID NO:32, amplifying GM-CSF using primers having the nucleotide sequences set forth in SEQ ID NO:33 and SEQ ID NO:39 and amplifying a GS linker fragment using primers having the nucleotide sequences set forth in SEQ ID NO:34 and SEQ ID NO:35; and ligation of the amplified G-CSF, GM-CSF and GS linker fragment by splicing overlapped extension technique.
