PURPOSE: A metal clay composition for precious metal crafts is provided which has superior quality compared with conventional metal clay composition for precious metal crafts and is delivered at a lower cost than the conventional metal clay composition for precious metal crafts, and a method for preparing the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The metal clay composition for precious metal crafts comprises 1 to 7 wt.% of sodium alginate, and 93 to 99 wt.% of metal powder having purity of 99.9%. The method for preparing a metal clay composition for precious metal crafts comprises the step of mixing metal powder having average particle diameter of 100 microns or less and purity of 99.9% with a sodium alginate aqueous solution at a temperature of 50 to 70 deg.C, wherein a weight ratio of sodium alginate to metal powder is 1 to 7:93 to 99, and wherein amount of water used for dissolving sodium alginate in the sodium alginate aqueous solution is 10 to 100 times of that of sodium alginate.
