FIELD: reactor thermophysics and thermionic method for heat-to-power conversion. ; SUBSTANCE: proposed simulator of loop-channel multielement thermionic power-generating assembly has case accommodating power-generating assembly model in the form of three emitter assemblies with fuel cores disposed inside calorimeters. Case also accommodates cylindrical shell whose outer surface carries calorimeters mounted thereon through insulating layer, and assembly model is placed inside shell for displacement along its axis. Method for testing proposed thermophysical simulator includes charging of the latter with power-generating assembly model in loop subchannel of research reactor wherein multielement thermionic power-generating assembly will be tested upon testing thermophysical simulator; raising of reactor power to full level; measurement of calorimeter electric signals while sequentially displacing power-generating assembly model along calorimeters at pitch equal to that of thermionic power-generating assembly elements being simulated; and evaluation of specific heat power of power-generating elements of thermionic power-generating assembly being simulated. ; EFFECT: reduced amount of fissionable material in proposed thermionic assembly simulator; reduced cost and facilitated servicing. ; 1 cl, 1 dwg
