FIELD: production of an adsorbent for effective purification of perfluorocarbons.;SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertinent to an adsorbent used for effective purification, which is capable to efficiently remove impurities contained in perfluorocarbons with production of perfluorocarbon with a low content of these impurities up to 1 particle per a million (in mass) or less; to a method of production of the adsorbent; to the methods of purification and production of octafluoropropane or octafluorocyclobutane and their application. Purification is conducted with use of the purifying adsorbent produced by the method, including: 1) flushing of the primary coal in series by an acid and then by water; 2) a deoxidation and-or a dehydration of the primary coal; 3) a repeated carbonization of the primary coal at the temperature from 500 up to 700°C in a noble gas flow; and 4) activation of the primary coal at the temperature from 700 up to 900°C in a mixed gas flow containing a noble gas, carbon dioxide and steam.
