The device has a chamber of conducting material and a device for generating an electromagnetic high frequency field inside the chamber supplied by a high frequency source (13). At least two conductors (4,6) arranged on opposite walls (3,5) of the chamber at a distance to and parallel wrt. the chamber walls form a symmetrical double conductor. One end of the double conductor is supplied in antiphase from the high frequency source. The other end of the double conductor is electrically connected to the chamber walls via terminating resistances (11).
