Device for reducing the CO2 content of gases during production of compressed gas, especially compressed air, comprises a compressor consisting of a pipe (1) having a suction opening (2) for the gas to be treated; an arrangement (3) for separating the suctioned off gas into two partial streams; a deviating device (4) connected to the separating arrangement for a first partial stream. Device for reducing the CO2 content of gases during production of compressed gas, especially compressed air, comprises using a compressor consisting of a pipe (1) having a suction opening (2) for the gas to be treated; an arrangement (3) for separating the suctioned off gas into two partial streams; a deviating device (4) connected to the separating arrangement for a first partial stream; a feed device (5) arranged after the separating arrangement for the treated first partial stream; an outlet opening (6) for the treated gas; a container (7) connected to the pipe via the deviating device and the feed device; an arrangement (8) within the container for moistening the first partial stream; and an absorber cartridge (9) filled with CO2 absorber material and arranged within the container. The first partial stream is passed through the cartridge and recycled via the feed device to the pipe. An Independent claim is also included for a process for reducing the CO2 content of gases during production of compressed gas, especially compressed air using the compressor. Preferred Features: A closing device (10) is arranged after the suction opening to prevent diffusion of gases into the device. The closing device is made from a membrane valve. The moistening device is a water reservoir provided at the base of the container.
