The device consists of a radiation source (1) whose radiation (2) acts on a specimen (3), a photonic crystal (4) that diffracts the beam reflected, transmitted and/or emitted by the specimen and at least one detector (5) that detects the spectroscopic properties of the diffracted beam. The part of the beam transmitted (2''') through the photonic crystal is fed to an absorber (6) or out of the spectrometer. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of recording optical spectra.
