Using microwaves to carry the data traffic, the short-path communications module of the first data transmitter (1) communicates with the second data transmitter (2). The long path communications module of the first data transmitter establishes long path communication through a transmission unit in the vehicle, using suitable long path equipment (5). This connects to the toll collection unit (4) via the Internet. Photographic equipment registers the vehicle identity in communication with the execution unit (3) detector. This information is then transmitted over the Internet to the toll collection unit (4). An independent claim is included for the corresponding method.
