The vehicle electrical system is supplied with current by a 12 V battery (B). The current from the positive pole flows through a diode (D1) and a switch (S3). A diode (D2) and an excitation winding (R,L) are connected in parallel to earth after the first diode and switch. A switch (S2) is connected to a capacitor (C) and a further switch is connected to a 100 V voltage source (A) in parallel to the capacitor. the system may momentarily supply a high voltage to the excitation winding for starting the engine.
