The system has a lubricant pump to feed lubricant via pipes (20-32) to selected lubricant consumers (11-18). Pipe fracture monitors (33-40) are connected to the pipes. A monitor consists of a pressure sensor to detect when a pressure in its associated pipe drops to below a set min. level. The monitors are located on at least one pipe, pref. on all pipes (25-32), which form end pipes to only one lubricant consumer. To maintain a pressure above min. level, the end pipes are connected to the consumer via pretension valves (45-52). The monitors are also arranged to detect pressures exceeding a max. level, to prevent damming up when pipes are blocked. All monitors are connected to a central evaluator (44).
