Method for estimating the condition of a system in respect of it service quality, whereby at least one system information item concerning the state of the system is converted into a model system by its parameterization. The state of the system is estimated by prediction of at least one system information item of the model system by use of a stochastic filter. An independent claim is made for a device for estimating the condition of a network connection in respect of quality of service that has a receiver for receiving system information relating to the state of a network connection, a processing unit for processing the information to estimate connection state and a transmitter for transmission of the estimate result.
