A fluid pressure monitor for a fluid cooled tool in an NC comprises a compact manometer (4) or flow meter fitted directly to the tool mounting (1) and operating on a maximum level mode, i.e. with the indicator dragged to and remaining at the maximum recorded level. The monitor is secured by the same threaded fastener (2) as the tool. The tool has one or more fluid outlets (5) for direct cooling of the tool and to remove swarf.
