Molded plastic products with barrier layer(s) and optionally an outer layer, in which the barrier layer(s) contain(s) polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL) (I) and the product also contains thermal (hot or cold) insulating material(s) (II). An independent claim is also included for a method for coating plastic products by applying an aqueous solution containing (I) and (II) and then drying the solution.
