Cooling system for electric drive system with synchronous machine with high-temperature superconducting field winding for propeller and jet drive with particularly small diameters in floating devices
The synchronous electric motor (6) is mounted in a swiveling pod (5) and drives a marine propeller (10). The intensely- cooled superconducting rotor (7) is surrounded by a normally- conducting stator winding (11) cooled by sea water (K). The winding is held inside a support structure (14) through which water may circulate. The support may have a magnetically-soft outer body (13) and support teeth (21i) extending in axial and radial directions. An external housing (15) has a cylindrical part (15a) enclosing the stator.
