The device transmits rotation of a drive shaft (2) to a take-off shaft (3). A traction rope (4) is fastened with its ends (5,5') to drive/take-off shaft, so that with rotation of a shaft, the rope is wound up at one end and unwound at the other end. The drive shaft is positioned at an angle of approx. 0[deg] to 90[deg] relative to the take-off shaft, at the smallest possible radial distance (7). The rope ends are fastened to a shaft at a relative axial distance (6), to apply torsion to the shaft and tension the rope. The device is used to drive a spindle, esp. for s steering system in a motor vehicle.
