A proximity control for operating water tap without manual contact is powered by a battery which is constantly recharged via a generator driven by a turbine in the water supply pipe. The turbine is fitted into the plastic water pipe and rotates in a field provided by permanent magnets and with the generated current picked up by a surrounding coil.
