Analysis and encoding of the olfactory characteristics of the ambient air in the vicinity of a digital recording, is new. The olfactory characteristics are encoded on the basis of up to 128 aromas. The codes are transmitted to a receiving station such as a personal computer, radio or DVD equipped with a decoder and a stock of olfactory substances. The olfactory substances are discharged cold via microjets.
