An emission source intensity location and start time determination procedure measures the emitted substance concentration (Ci(t)) and flow vector at many separated sensors (i) and uses the rates of change or stable concentration values to estimate the location (xo), intensity (qo) and start time (to) of the emission source using a quasi closed or numerical solution for diffusion and advection based on estimates of the distance and start time.
