Composition with wound-healing properties obtained from pupae of Diptera, useful particularly for wounds that heal poorly, e.g. diabetic ulcers

Preparation (A) with wound-healing activity, obtained from the pupae of Diptera, is new. ACTIVITY : Vulnerary. An 83 year old patient with a chronic ulcus cruris that had not responded to standard treatments was treated daily with a extract of dipteran pupae, in aqueous form and as lyophilizate. The wound was covered with gauze and bound with a compression bandage. Within 7 days the wound showed strong granulation, without residual fibrinous deposits, and after 59 days the ulcer was cured completely. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
