Production of an infiltration composite material made from titanium aluminide, titanium and aluminum comprises cleaning and crushing titanium (alloy) material and aluminum (alloy) material in the form of waste from cutting processes, pellets, powder, atomizing waste and shredding waste, forming a pre-body of predetermined shape by filling a container with a charge containing 40.0-99.9 vol.% titanium (alloy) material and 0.1-60 vol.% aluminum (alloy) material and subsequently compressing, and infiltrating the pre-body with an aluminum melt so that the titanium and aluminum react to form titanium aluminide.
