The method for handling leaks in tanks of hazardous liquids, e.g. in petrol tanker lorries, comprises boring a hole in the top of the tank using a self-tapping connector. An armature with shut-off valve is inserted into the connector and a hose connected to it. The liquid can then be safely sucked out of the tank and the leaks repaired.
