A single-layer press applies a layer of e.g. decor paper or finish foil to a chipboard panel. The press has a feed assembly with an array of rotating horizontal rods with pick-up catches that feed boards in and removed the finished boards. Each rod is coupled to a drive system. The horizontal rods raise and lower as required to feed and remove boards.
