Preparation of 3,4-diisopropoxynitrobenzene (I) comprises reacting 1,2-diisopropoxybenzene (II) with a mixture of 20-60 wt.% nitric acid and 40-98 wt.% sulfuric acid. An independent claim is also included for preparation of (II).
