The musical string instrument, and especially a guitar (1), has an opening (10) at the head end of the body (4) which is asymmetrical in relation to the vertical center axis of the body, so that it goes out from the side (6.1) of the higher strings. The first section (10.1) of the opening is at right angles to the longitudinal line of the instrument, or at a small angle of less than +-30[deg] around the vertical. The opening lies parallel to the longitudinal line at the side of the deeper strings, into the leading section (6.2) of the body.
