For the purpose of modelling at least part of the reactor is composed of a number of base elements which are divided into a number of elementary channels. Each channel is allocated an elementary channel class (a,b,c,d). Where the base elements conjoin the adjacent channel classes are merged into a common class (b2,c2,b3,c3). To each of these elementary channels belonging to these common classes a data record is allocated characterizing their thermodynamic properties.
