The method involves admitting two reference photographs on a detector which is sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. A signal difference between the signals received in conjunction with a known scene (16) and the signals of the reference photographs, as well as the signal difference of the signals of the reference photographs. An algorithm determines the relationship of the two received signal differences and the amount of the received data taking place. An independent claim is included for a computer program product for carrying out the calibration method.
