The tool comprises a holder for molding a first component of the molded product and an injection side tool plate(5) with a feed point(14) entering a recessed cavity area(8) for injection of a second component directly onto the first. A movable embossing insert(12) forms at least part of the base of the recessed cavity. Plastic is fed at a point(14) outside an embossing insert(12). Feed points may be located at several points in the recessed cavity(8) and in particular on each side of an embossing insert. Inserts can be positioned adjacent to each other along the length of the recessed cavity and occupy the entire area of the latter. Inserts are moved with a time delay relative to each other, the delay increasing from one side of the recessed cavity to the other. A central tool plate forms the holder for molding the first component and rotates around an axis perpendicular to a normal to the plate for molding the second component onto the first. The recessed cavity(8) has a frame shape surrounding the injection tool plate and a molded frame forms a black plastic edge around the first component, typically a transparent flat plate. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing a multi-component plastic injection molded part in which: a) a first component is injected into the tool plate; b) a second component is injected onto the first component via an injection side tool plate(5) with a recessed cavity entered by a feed point for plastic opposite the premolded first component; c) an embossing insert forming part of the base of the recessed cavity is moved forwards during and/or after plastic injection into the recessed cavity.
