Vibration parameters are determined from detected acceleration data. One accelerometer (1) is used to detect measurement values from the corners of a triangle formed at arbitrary points on the mirror surface (4), and another accelerometer (5) is used to detect measurement values from the mirror housing (2) or vehicle body (3) to which the mirror is fixed. The measurement values are fed to an analysis unit for data evaluation. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for detecting vehicle mirror vibration.
