The graphical representation system uses three effective axes mutually at right-angles to each other. Sentences in human or computer-generated speech are shown visually in a modified typescript on the three-axis plot. Time (Zeit) is shown on a horizontal baseline and pitch (Tonhohe) of the spoken words is shown as a vertical axis, extending up toward the top of the graph. The volume (Lautstarke) axis extends out from the monitor screen toward the viewer. The letters are increased in size to indicate loud volume and the pitch is indicated by height of the letters above the baseline.
