A space heater for greenhouses has a coaxial cylindrical shape and is suspended with its axis horizontal. A burner (11) is mounted outside the cylinder and provides a flow of hot gasses axially into a central heat exchanger space (2). The gasses are ducted from the central space to an outer coaxial chamber (12) and out via a flue (13). This provides three heat exchanger surfaces for the axial airflow drive by a fan at one end of the heater. Any suitable burner can be fitted, burning gas or liquid fuel.
